(Obama Promoting a Single Payer HeathCare

The democrats argue that Obama has consistently said that if you like your healthcare plan you can keep it; and if you like your doctors you can keep your doctor. He will end his political argument saying that the government will not force you to change your plan. He further argues that his plan is merely a quote/unquote “public option” as if to suggest to us that 1) it is a private plan intended for the public at large; and 2) it is just another choice among many choices. But is this true?

Well—yes and no. Yes it is true because the words force or mandate are nowhere to be found in any of the bills currently being debated in our congress. At the same time, Obama is promoting an untruth because most hard working Americans get their healthcare from their employers and it is the employer who chooses their healthcare plan and not the individual. That means that we really don’t have a choice. It also means that we may not have the option of keeping either our healthcare plan or our doctors.

So let’s examine this further. If HR 3200 is passed, employers will be required to offer a government run healthcare public option. This has a 5 year limitation; but if for any reason the insurance company make any changes in its policy or benefits, or if your employer make any changes then all bets are off and the public option will automatically take its place. That is my understanding of HR 3200.

Then there is this floating idea of cost effective competition. To which our president has gone on record saying that since the government can offer cheaper cost, that this alone will help to keep insurance companies honest. But what he really means is that they will be forced to compete with a government that will have unlimited resources because it can 1) tap the tax payers by raising our tax dollars; or 2) it can print money. The first will be an untold heartship on us and the second will leave us broke only adding to that heartship.

So what will the smaller business employer do given the option between chosing a private insurance company who is out to make a profit and must charge the higher rates and a goverment run plan that is all about bureaucratic cost effectiveness; which usually means, by the way: keeping their cost down while driving ours up. In plain simple language, a government public option will end up being just another ponzi scheme and government giveaway. And what they will be giving away is our hard earned tax dollars in order to fill their bureaucratic pockets. Democrat progressives will say that this is social justice, but I say it is robbing from Peter to pay Paul and just another way to add corruption to an already corrupt government.

If there is anything I learned from observing and listening to Obama during the campaign season is that he has a propensity to lie by glossing over the truth. And to this those who voted for him will say, ‘ah, but he is such an inspirational speaker’. But I say he is a snake oil salesman who should not be taken on face value. Neither should he be believed! Why? Because we have come to know from past experience and by observing his patterns that Obama will very often say something one day if it is politically expedient for him to do so and then change his stance weeks, days or even minutes later… if, if he sees that it suits his best interest. Can we say, change! Ooopse… excuse me, he has the right to change his mind. And if he can, so too can we. So, if there are any of you out there who voted the man in… well now, what can I say, it is not too late to “change” your mind.

In order for a small business to survive it must cut corners and cut they will and in this wise: They will either drop an insurance company (if they can afford to have one in the first place); or they will go with the cheaper goverment option in order to cover their employees. Following this line of thinking we can see that within a very short span of time insurance companies with be forced out of business and walla we will all end up on a single payer system… just the way Obama has advocated all along. Therefore he will tell us, he is for a single payer system but that it might take us 5, 10 or 20 years to get there. In the interim though, he will not force us now because he will repeat “if we like our plan we can keep it”. What he is not telling us is that we will only be able to do that if our employer does.

So if you were an employer which plan would you choose in order to run a more cost effective operation? Likewise, if you are the employee which plan would you like your employer to offer you so that you can keep your own doctors?

Employers can shop around and if dissatisfied with an insurance company they can get another… not so with a government run option. If we as patients are mistreated under our current system we can sue for malpractice; but if Obama have his way those days will end because we will not be able to sue our government. And therein lies the problem with a government take over!
