In March of ‘09 Van Jones gave a speech to the Power Shift ‘09 Conference. In it he revealed some astonishing and truly radical ideas. If we listen closely they provide us with powerful insights not only of himself but quite possibly give us a window into how Obama thinks and what his true intentions are. But that is not the only thing that troubles me about this video.

Notice please that at the very beginning of his speech he has incorporated a center stage backdrop of our valued youth. Now, I don’t know about you, but I find this tactic to indoctrinate our young a wee bit sinister both in tone and in appeal—and yes, even if they are college students.

Notice the chanting and the sing-song effect of a repeated hypnotic suggestion. Notice the attempt to use them—yes, I said use them in order to promote Van Jones’s agenda by openly reprimanding them for wearing older shirts and in an attempt to get them to purchase newer ones. We do suppose to financially support his cause.

So here we have three separate things going on: 1). free advertising and 2). costly support and 3). propagandizing our young. So I have to wonder if these young people really know who and what they are supporting. Do they really think this is all about them and not about the flow of money, about those who want to acquire more and usually at the expense of those who have less of it.

Jones on Changing America

JONES: “This movement is deeper than a solar panel! Deeper than a solar panel! Don’t stop there! Don’t stop there! We’re gonna change the whole system! We’re gonna change the whole thing. We’re not gonna put a new battery in a broken system. We want a new system. We want a new system!” he declared.

Jones on Native American Indian Rights

JONES: “And our Native American sisters and brothers who were pushed and bullied and mistreated and shoved into all the land we didn’t want, where it was all hot and windy. Well, guess what? Renewable energy? Guess what, solar industry? Guess what wind industry? They now own and control 80 percent of the renewable energy resources. No more broken treaties. No more broken treaties. Give them the wealth! Give them the wealth! Give them the dignity. Give them the respect that they deserve. No justice on stolen land. We owe them a debt.”

What is this man talking about?—Do you know because I certainly don’t. I have never heard that the American Indian owns 80% of the renewable energy resources in this country. Never! Well perhaps that is a bit too strong—because at one time, a long long time ago, the American Indian owned 100% of America. And that’s a fact. Yet no longer.

Jones on Illegal Immigration

JONES: What about our immigrant sisters and brothers? What about our immigrant sisters and brothers? What about people who come here from all around the world who we’re willing to work out in the field, with poison being sprayed on them, poison being sprayed on them because we have the wrong agricultural system. And we’re willing to poison them and poison the earth to put food on our table, but we don’t want to give them rights and we don’t want to give them dignity and we don’t want to give them respect?

What we don’t want, Mr. Jones is to support illegal aliens who are here illegally and who rob our schools and our hospitals and take our hard earned tax dollars to support their criminal activities—like crossing a border illegally bringing with them illegal drugs that are literally poisoning or kids, and bringing their sex trade that is literally robbing our youth of their dignity and pride and yes their right to live a normal healthy life. What we don’t want is our social security numbers being lifted causing a loss of identity and often financial ruin. We want business to pay their workers on the books so that they can pay their fair share of taxes instead of just paying grocery taxes for their goods and services. We want business to open the front door for immigrants and not sneak them in through the back door. We want them to pay income tax like we do!

What we want are immigrants coming here the old fashioned way—through the front door. You know about the front door, don’t you Mr Jones? That was the door that was denied to your ancestors until President Lincoln gave them the freedom and the independence that your relatives so richly deserved. The front door that was only opened but ever so slightly but was moved several more inches by men like Martin Luther King. The same front door that was flung open wide by the people of this country who voted in the man that we now call, Mr President. We mean, THAT front door Mr. Jones. But you—you are talking about a revolving door, a door that never opens and never closes but always spins.

Jones on Social Justice

JONES: “I’m willing to forego the cheap satisfaction of the radical pose for the deep satisfaction of radical ends.”

Shall we say: Communist!

Jones on Social Justice for Prisoners

JONES: “You cannot beat carbon emissions unless you green the cities; you cannot green the cities unless you green the getto, and you cannot green the getto in 2009 unless you give old pokey a job.”

Old pokey doesn’t deserve a job Mr Jones, not if it means taking it from hard working Americans. Ah yes, but I can see why you might promote an idea such as this. It’s cheap labor isn’t Mr. Jones. So what you criticize whites for you now want to do to your own kind. Can we say, opportunist. Or better yet—Shifting Power, Shifting Sand.
